Must-do’s for Successful Bridal Hair and Makeup
Planning a wedding is stressful enough between guest lists, venues, catering, and dealing with your fiance’s mom…it’s hard to focus on you! Your hair and makeup go hand-and-hand with your beautiful wedding dress- it’s so important to make sure it all comes together the way you want!
Here are some must-do’s to make sure you get the wedding look you want for your wedding day:
Plan Ahead:
If you’re like most brides, you’re getting married between June-September, which means you’re competing with a lot of brides for wedding hair and makeup appointments. If you need hair and makeup for your entire wedding party or need on-site hair and makeup-DEFINITELY plan ahead. Plan months in advance, the sooner, the better!
Do a Consultation:
Ok, so your regular hairstylist says she can do wedding hair and makeup….this is not always true. If she says she can, have a consultation first, and have a trial run. If you don’t have a stylist or makeup artist, do your research. Make sure you find someone who specializes in wedding hair styling and makeup. After you find this person, DO A TRIAL RUN. I can’t stress this enough. There is nothing worse than hating your hair and makeup on your wedding day.
Have an idea of what you want:
With so many styles and looks to pick from, it can be hard to decide what you want for your wedding day look. Do a little research and bring a few photos to your trial run. Your makeup artist and stylist can help you figure it out- but it’s a lot easier to narrow it down with pictures.
Don’t be afraid to say NO:
Your stylist/makeup artist has done what she thinks is what you want….it’s not. Don’t be afraid to tell them you don’t like it! A trial run is to make sure you get what you want on your wedding day. As a stylist/makeup artist, I will tell you I have seen women do 5-6 styles and looks in a trial run before they decide.
Enjoy yourself!
During your hair and makeup- it’s YOU time. Take this time to chill and reflect on the wonderful day you’re about to have.
Buy the lipstick:
The second you drink or eat something after your makeup has been done, your lipstick will come off. Buy the color and you can reapply it over and over all day or night!
